Description

To ensure the greatest possible operational safety, DB AG commissioned a fundamental renewal of the power supply to the central interlocking of the Berlin S-Bahn in Halensee. Approximately 60 % of the Berlin S-Bahn network is controlled via this signal box. The building complex was erected in 1927 and is a listed building. Today, this building complex houses an S-Bahn operations centre with the ESTW Westkreuz, a network control centre and a rectifier substation (Guw Halensee).
Since 2007, the reconstruction measures have been carried out in numerous construction phases, step by step and in sections, during ongoing operations. To date, 27 construction stages have been planned and realised for the control and safety technology.
