Description
Prior to the development of the new international airport Munich II the single-track mass rapid transit line S 3 terminated in Ismaning. In order to connect the new airport, it was necessary to extend the line (S 8) with two tracks.
After the plan approval documents for a trench solution had been completed in 1988, it was decided during the procedure itself to place part of the section – including the station – in a tunnel.
