Description

The project area, located some 50 km south-east of the capital, is split into the 4 main sections of Al Nahda Military Village, Bani Yas, Al Wathba North and Al Wathba South with a total of 560.8 hectares and approx. 20 000 inhabitants. Each of the sections concerned is of a residential nature, though also including a number of public services such as school sand mosques.

The aim of the project is - on the basis of a daily net effluent of 250 l / inhabitant and all the relevant demographic, socio-economic and climatological criteria - to design appropriate sewerage schemes to connect these individual sections with the existing sewage treatment works at nearby Mafraq. As a result of the prevailing high temperature there was a high risk ofboth malodours (H2S) and pipe corrosion (H2S4).

Special attention was therefore paid to avoiding anaerobic conditions in the net and selecting corrosion resistant pipe material.
