Description

The design relays the image of a modern, transparent and light terminal building architecture with steel and glass forming the main design elements. In its cross-section the building structure is like large bird wings beating. A key element of the terminal building is the curved, flowing design of the open-web girder roof. Its great height enables an unobstructed view across the entire building and travelers experience a feeling of great expanse in which all the people of many different nations are the most important feature.

From most passenger areas on the air-traffic side there is an open view onto the apron, the aircraft and the runways enabling the architecture to relay a picture of the airport’s high-tech elements to its passengers and visitors.

The architecture stands out with its marked low-profile design which allows the people using the airport to gather their own impression. The first thing the arriving passengers sense in the architecture is the gently curved style of the building layout which is continued in the flowing roof design. The elegant shape of a convex air-traffic side leaves the impression of an invisible end to the building. On the opposite side, the concave shape of the building shortens the length of the terminal on the curb side and gives the impression of an encompassing arrangement of both terminal buildings.
